Awarded "2020 - Best in Berkeley ~ Psychologist"

I grew up in New York City and received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany.
I was awarded the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award for my research on the cognitive and emotional factors that promote growth in response to crisis.

My clinical education and training included solid grounding in Individual, Couples, Group, and Family Therapy.
I was trained as a Career Counselor to provide Vocational Assessment and guidance and received extensive training to administer and interpret Psychodiagnostic and Neuropsychological Assessments.

As a clinical intern at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, New York I provided psychotherapy and testing to veterans and their families and developed greater skills treating those with chronic mental illness including PTSD.

Since graduating I have worked in community mental health clinics, college and university counseling centers and my own private practice in New York and California.

As a Psychologist at Binghamton University Counseling Center in upstate New York, I chaired the Eating Awareness Steering Committee and helped develop a treatment protocol of services for students with eating disorders. As a specialist in the treatment of eating disorders, I apply a holistic approach that includes psychotherapy, medical and nutritional consultation to alleviate the symptoms of disordered eating and promote overall health and well being.

As a Counselor on staff at West Valley Community College in Saratoga, CA, I provided academic, career and personal counseling to a diverse student population including those with disabilities.

I have designed and taught classes at the college and university level and provide workshops on various topics in the community.

My undergraduate and graduate education focused on the Eastern and Western philosophical underpinnings of contemporary psychology.
Through that I discovered the cognitive, emotional, physical and spiritual benefits of a regular meditation and yoga practice which I continue with today.
Consequently I value an integral approach to therapy that supports deep and lasting change.

I continue to expand my training in various methods and theoretical approaches that I find helpful in my practice.

Foremost, I view each person as inherently whole and capable of finding their own way towards life change and inner well being.
I regard myself as a guide in this process supporting each person to discover what is truly healing and vitalizing for themselves and their lives.
